Croatia Beaches and Weather
Weather in Croatia, with its temperate coastal Mediterranean climate, plays host to visitors throughout the year. Sea waters in some parts can reach over 25 degrees in the summer, while swimming in early spring and well into autumn is also pleasurable. The lakes and the mountains of the inland provide natural shade from dry and hot summers and the green extends all the way down to the beaches, meeting with the typical Adriatic winds of Bura and Jugo. Croatian Adriatic boasts of many beautiful pebble and sandy beaches all along the coast and on the islands. Numerous beaches in Croatia have been awarded the Blue flag, an international award for quality of the beach and its facilities and purity of the sea. Many beaches hidden in small bays and coves, far away from the crowded tourist centres are still waiting to be discovered. The most famous and the most spectacular beach in Croatia is Golden cape beach (Zlatni rat) in Bol, on the island of Brac. It is a unique natural phenomenon, a tongue-shaped beach which changes shape depending on the currents and the waves. Because of the favourable weather and summer winds, it is very popular among windsurfers and kite surfers, and in summer it offers a variety of water sports. Golden Cape beach in Bol has been voted one of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world, according to Lonely Planet and British Daily Telegraph. It has also been chosen as one of the sexiest beaches in the world by American Travel Channel.
