The River Drava is 720 kilometres in length and it connects together different cultures and different countries. The different countries that are connected together are Austrian Pustertal Valley, the Italian Alps, Slovenian Alps and the European Pannonian Valley. The river gets strengthened by the water of the River Mura after it passes through Croatia and the southern border of Hungary. A project has been put together by the Donji Mihojac Tourist board called, ‘Drava Valley Pearls’. This project has been started with the aim of learning more about the heritage and the culture of the valley. It also aims to protect the coastline, improve the quality of the accommodation for the tourists, improve the social community, present the eno-gastronomy to the tourist and most importantly promote the native products that are made by the people in the valley.
The project has been planned to be carried on the right bank of the river which is along the Hungarian border, Donji Mihojac and other towns like Rakitovica, Sveti Surad etc. In the program is included an adventurous trip and also camping and scout excursions. There is also a possibility for the tourists to taste blackberry wine which will be provided by the local people. They can also take a tour of the hazelnut plantation and taste goat cheese which is also made by the residents of the valley. Apart from these as a part of the cultural and heritage attractions, the tourists can visit the castles Prandau-Mailath besides the six churches, monuments and a sheltered park.
