Croatia Visa Requirements

Zagreb – Croatia will temporary suspend visa requirements for some countries in an effort to boost tourism, Croatian Tourism Minister Damir Bajs said Wednesday.

The ministry proposed scrapping visa requirements for Russian and Ukrainian citizens during the summer season, and also for Chinese and Indian citizens, Bajs said.

“We are expecting a weak tourist season this year,” he said. The number of tourists in Croatia could drop by 3 per cent – a heavy blow to an industry generating almost 20 per cent of domestic product.

A weak season could further hamper Croatia’s economy, and the Croatian government will discuss Bajs’ proposal in the next few days.
Croatia’s Adriatic coastline is a popular destination among tourists from Germany, Austria, Italy and Slovenia. In recent years tourists from Russia, Japan and the US have increased considerably.

    Sir/ Madam,

Good Morning! We are one family of five persons, Filipino Citizens with legal documents or permit of stay/ permesso di soggiorno in Italy and we are going to travel by our car to Stria, Croazia for one week vacation. Do we need a tourist visa for entering your country? Pls. advise us soon. thank you very much! Oscar

    • Hi Oscar,
As to my best knowledge Filipino residents do need a visa for Croatia, while Italian citizens do not need a visa. Since you have Permesso, you probably have Italian ID card with which you can enter Croatia.
This is just my opinion, and I strongly suggest that you contact Croatian Ambassy in Italy and ask them for current info. You can get contact details here.
      Hope this helps.

  3. Good Morning,

Our family will be taking the Viking River Cruise to Eastern Europe. Our itinerary as follows:

    Prague-Budapest-Croatia (1 day)-Belgrade (1 day)-Bulgaria (1 day)-Bucharest.

We already have our Schengen Visa and our Romanian Visa. Will we need a visa to spend 1 day in Croatia, we are in a Cruise shp under Viking River Cruise.

If we need a visa please let us know the requirements as our cruise will be on April 1 and there is no Croatia Embassy in the Philippines.

    Thank you.

    Pamela

    • Hi Pamela,

For this year all holders of valid Schengen visas do not need Croatian visa for entering Croatia.

Best regards and hope you will enjoy your stay in Croatia :-)

    To whom it may concern.

I am South African, living and working in Udine, as an English teacher.I have a permanent work contract and a permisso di soggiorno. I have two daughters who are South African as well. Do we need a visa to visit on holiday in Croatia?
    Yours sincerely
    Kathaleen Marshall

    • Hi Kathaleen,
We just checked with foreign ministry and they said you do not need a Croatian visa if you have valid ‘Permesso di soggiorno’. This is valid for this year as part of ease of entry for tourists.
      Hope this helps.
Best regards and hope you will enjoy your stay in Croatia :-)
