Croatia State continues to renew tourist and excursion ships
Recently a contract has been signed between representatives of the Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and twelve excursion and tourist owners. For the building and ships they will receive a non recurring aid for HRK 3.3 million. The owners of the 10 companies will get HRK 2.9 million as building grants. Out of the 10 companies four are from Krilo Jesenice, two are from Suhi Potok, one is from Biograd, one from Babino Polje on Mljet, another one from Solin and one is from Virovitica. The company from Povlja and a tourist company from Privalka will be paid HRK 340,000 for reconstructing their ships.
The project for renewal support and tourist fleet development started about five years ago and during this time, the state has spent about HRK 12 million for reconstructing 33 ships and reconstructing and renewing 16 ships. The main aim of the state behind undertaking this project is to improve the safety in the sea, to protect the Adriatic environment and also to develop the tourism and small scale enterprises on the islands and along the coast.
In totality, the Croatian Tourist Fleet possesses 405 ships which are registered. These ships are owned by 336 private ship owners. These owners work on a comparatively small scale and have the capacity to carry around 5000 passengers. The project that is carried by the state will be very helpful or these small entrepreneurs and also will help the tourism to develop which will take the country a long way.
